My Brother is Tony Robbins
My brother is an inspirational speaker! Check out his reaction to my post with his earlier thoughts…
i realized an additional thing… most struggles are met by most people by becoming frustrated (which usually results in giving up… most people give up on something after a few tries) however, those that stick with something and are determined to succeed/learn from their...

Lock, Stock and Barrel
From Wikipedia:
Lock, stock, and barrel is a merism used predominantely in the United Kingdom and North America meaning ‘all’, ‘total’, ‘everything’. The term itself derives from the components of a musket: the ‘lock’ being the firing mechanism, ‘stock’ being the wooden butt-end of the gun, and ‘barrel’ being the cylindrical...

Almost Too Easy
A little rough around the edges but yesterday’s game was a preview on what this season will be like. There were a few glimpses of genius here and there where it looked just too easy for the Lakers. 1 down and 81 to go! My favorite quotes from the Bill Plaschke article:
“That’s the most important thing around here, right?” said Sasha Vujacic. “The tacos?” Why do...

Linens 'N Things Liquidation
Sadly, I used to really like Linens ‘N Things particularly when I was still in college.
Specialty retailer Linens ‘n Things, which filed for bankruptcy protection in May, plans to begin liquidation sales at its stores as early as Thursday after failing to find a buyer that wanted to operate the company.
“It’s a straight going-out-of business liquidation sale,” said...

Being Journey Oriented (Part I)
It has come to my realization that we’re generally more concerned with the destination rather than the journey. We’re taught to value being “goal-oriented” more than being “journey-oriented”. We’re taught to choose and decide on our destinations so that we may work backwards and figure out how to get there. Heck, the last time it was I was suggested to focus on the journey was in grade school when...

Market Capitulation
From Investopedia.com
By definition, capitulation means to surrender or give up. In financial circles, this term is used to indicate the point in time when investors have decided to give up on trying to recapture lost gains as a result of falling stock prices. Suppose a stock you own has dropped by 10%. There are two options that can be taken: you can wait it out and hope the stock begins to...

Shoryuken
Reading this brought back so many memories of my childhood…
Shoryuken (昇龍拳, Shōryūken?, “Rising Dragon Fist”) is a fictional special attack in the Street Fighter series used by Ryu, Ken and other Street Fighter characters trained under the same style. The move is a jumping uppercut in which the user spins, knocking the opponent to the ground.
The Shoryuken is the archetypal...

Live and Be Passionate
Leykis had a topic last night that I thought was quite intriguing. He asked us if any of us had an “ace” up our sleeves that if we mentioned it would attract attention when being in a large crowd, or would “open doors” that would otherwise be closed, or would get people to talk to us that otherwise wouldn’t give us the time of day. Is there something about you, or something you do, that when...

What Is Your Style? 100 Words Or Less.
What do you tell two strangers who are attempting to undertand your sense of style so that they may accurately reflect your personality and the essense of “you” in the decorations they suggest for your house?
I guess the question boils down to “Who are you?” and “What are you all about?”
Could I accurately describe myself and my “sense of style” in...

Embarrassing
I was listening to JoJo on the Radio (KIIS FM) last night and tuned in just as he was about to send one of his guys to the store with specific instructions to purchse the following and ONLY the following:
1. A large cucumber (to be specific, “the largest one you can find”) 2. A stick of KY Jelly 3. A party hat
I didn’t listen long enough to hear what happened as the guy...

1000 Failures per Single Success
It dawned on me today that some things take a lot of tries to get right. I remember prior to writing my first song I had always wanted to write a song. Inspired by the stuff I listened to and my brother’s many creations, I’ve sat down at the piano thousands of times trying to string a few notes/chords together, only to fail at it over and over again.
It started as not even having a...

Oopsies, we made a mistake...
Today’s trading marks the biggest single intraday gain by the Dow Jone’s Industrial Average closing up 936.42 points. It’s also the biggest correction on oversold stocks. It’s like investors said, “Whoops! We went too far. It’s okay we’ll just buy back and hope no one notices! Sorry!”

Where the Hell am I?
Played some volleyball tonight. First time playing indoor though I’ve been keeping up for the most part playing some outdoor (grass) with my co-workers.
Halfway through the night my mind just kinda checked out. My play suffered. I kept trying to snap to it and get back into the game but whether I was tired or mentally somewhere else, I just couldn’t focus. I was physically there,...

Who Are the "Keating 5"?
If you were listening to Tom Leykis yesterday then you heard Tom say that McCain was involved in the same financial scandel almost 20 years ago. While it’s not 100% accurate, I am surprised to learn of Senator McCain’s (at least partial) involvement in such corruption during the ‘89 S&L bailout.
The Keating Five were five United States Senators accused of corruption in...

Luke Walton and his Stalker
“She had been following him to his practice site and following him home and repeatedly asking him to sign basketballs after he’d already done so,” Tobias said. “At one point, she got upset and was taking a Sharpie pen to his vehicle after he refused to sign a soccer ball.” Manhattan Beach police then met with Beshear, and she stopped what she was doing, Tobias said. ...

Earthquake or AWS?
I went to bed pretty early last night around 9:15pm. Right as I was falling asleep I felt my bed shaking, enough to wake me up at around 10pm. It wouldn’t have been more than a 3.0 or less on the Richter scale, but it was noticeable.
Today I looked on a few websites recording such incidents but there’s no news that an earthquake occurred last night.
So what did I feel? A train? A...

90 Minutes of Surfing
I spent about an hour and a half in the water today at Redondo Breakwater.
I caught no waves.
It was one of those days. Even though it was glassy/clean and there was size/swell the waves were totally walled up. Every set was practically a close out sets. Makes for a lot of sitting and getting cold.
Admittedly I’m always a little tentative at redondo because it breaks a lot harder than...

US vice-presidential debate: Sarah Palin fails to...
In the latest clip, which is already being viewed on video-sharing site YouTube, Ms Couric asks: “When it comes to establishing your world view, I was curious, what newspapers and magazines did you regularly read before you were tapped for this to stay informed and to understand the world?” Mrs Palin replies: “I’ve read most of them, again with a great appreciation for the...

Joe Biden for President
I listened and watched much of the VP debate. I think Sarah Palin just lost John McCain the presidency. Here are a few reasons why:
She couldn’t answer questions in a direct manner. When asked, “In light of the press saying she had no executive experience, what did SHE think was her greatest disadvantage”, she answered by elaborating on her executive experience.
She kept...
