Helicopters and Memories

In an earlier post I performed a rough cost benefit analysis on taking a helicopter ride to take some pictures:

16GB SanDisk CF cards… $450
30 minute helicopter ride… $500
Almost having diarrhea before boarding the helicopter… $0

Clicking 500 pictures to capture ones like the one below… priceless

There are some things money can’t buy. A picture like the one above is absolutely worth the stress and cost of an exorbitant helicopter ride.

The post processing of this picture took almost 2 hours. I had to clone out 1/10 of the frame because parts of the helicopter were blocking the shot. I also used parts of another shot to overlay onto this one. Oh and did I mention, I didn’t take this picture? I physically couldn’t. I was sitting in the back seat. I handed the camera to the 14 year old kid in the front and motioned for him to snap away (couldn’t hear a thing with ear muffs on and didn’t know if he spoke English or what).

I have processed several more pictures and they are available on my flickr account. I think I will wait to process more before I unveil them. If you’re eager just click on the link to the right.
