The Complications of HDTV
When I signed up for HD service via Dish Network, I was sold on the TurboHD packages. What I didn’t know was that TurboHD offered ONLY HD channels and no SD (standard definition) channels. When my installer performed my Dish setup he changed my package to include SD channels. However through the switch I lost access to FSN and because Catherine likes the Lakers so much we have to get it back. After several conversations with my installer and calling Dish myself this is what we’re getting and what we’re paying:
$44.99/mo. America’s Top 200
- Includes FSW and FSW2
- Includes 2nd TV in SD
$15.00/mo. Silver Package HD
- 32 channels (plus Includes receiver (hardware)
$5.00/mo. Local Network Package
- All local channels in HD and SD (30 channels)
$5.00/mo. 3rd TV in SD
- Includes receiver (hardware)
*$5.00/mo. No phone line for VIP722
- Removing this from my bill this weekend
$69.99/mo. Total
Admittedly it’s rather expensive and it’s $20 more than what we pay for cable now but we’re getting more channels and more options and HD. Plus after getting the $5/mo. no phone line BS sorted out, it’ll be $65.99/mo.
