Palm PRE - Finally an iPhone me-too
It’s weird. I expected every other cell phone company to come out with an iPhone me-too product immediately after launch. Now, almost 3 years after iPhone, we finally have something comparable. It’s the Palm PRE.
I’ve watched the CES introduction videos and here are the highlights:
- Multi-touch (like zooming)
- full slideout QWERTY keyboard
- multi-tasking (multiple programs/windows)
- universal search (just type what you’re looking for, PRE will suggest where it’s located)
- universal contacts (populates contact info from all sources e.g. email, Facebook)
- Safari-like browser with rotating screen depending on orientation.
So really it’s like an iPhone with a keyboard that allows multi-tasking (windows). The question is, can it do what the iPhone does as well as the iPhone does?
