Zoe and the Lemonade

First off, there was no lemonade.

But there were many lemons.

Let me clarify, I shot 200 frames and MANY turned out to be lemons. I could not foresee the challenges that a toddler would pose to my photography sets. I spent lots of time setting my light only to be thwarted by a little girl who just wanted to have fun.

So we made lots of lemonade.

With 3 lights, I switched 2 of the strobes on-the-fly. While she ran circles around me, I chased her down with the umbrella. The SU-800 proved EXTREMELY useful in this scenario because I was able to change settings without touching the strobe.

And while I almost cried when I came home to find many a blurry picture on the screen, I also found gems. Gems of expression, curiosity, playfulness, stuff that couldn’t be reproduced artificially. I was rewarded in allowing the shoot to develop organically with pictures that I couldn’t have imagined because they were spontaneous.

May I present to you Zoe:

If you can shoot a small child, you can shoot anything.
